The movie "Widow" is based on a true story. It is a thrilling exciting and gripping expose on the debasing, dangerous, and sometimes inhuman treatment widows in Africa are subjected to as imposed upon them by some acient and primitive customs.....

Etremely entertaining!...had me gasping at some scenes!...I refuse to give it 5 stars b'cos I do not agree with the way things happened with regards to certain issues. I understand that it is a true story...so therefore I believe that those events actually took place, but it is very sad that according to this movie/story...Nigeria is still living (in a way) in the dark ages...were certain traditional laws that should have been abolished a long time ago still stand!...very sad...never the less story was beautifully told and the lead actress was brilliant!...highly recommended!

This movie portrayed women as extremely weak and frail individuals. Most women are sharper than this, especially when you have kids to be alive for. The production was nice but this movie is EXTREMELY EXTREMELY OVERATED. The writer would have scored points if a revolution to eradicate these nonsence traditions was started or better yet, Stella's xter stood up for her human rights.

Very touching movie. Rituals that are kept to humiliate others (be it widow or widower) is to be rejected by all good and God fearing people. We should all endeavour to keep and marry the good traditions of our culture with christian values. Greed and selfishness is the cause of failure in mankind. Watch this at all cost.

i have mixed feelings. loved the production, sound, acting, script quality. In short, Impressed. i was just a little bothered by the hyper-religious tone of the story. this is a SERIOUS social issue. i would have loved to see a much less compromising ending. like the lawyer said, freedom will not come from heaven. you have to fight for it. And dont get me wrong. i realize that in reality, what she did at the end is probably the only option given nigeria's messed up legal system. but i still think that the movie was a bit soft on the husband's family. ITS TIME TO TELL THESE TRADITION FREAKS THAT OUR PATIENCE HAS RUN OUT.

I have to say it is certainly good to see Stella back on the screen again. As usual, she gave commanding performance. The story-line was excellent and all the actors did a very good job. It has been such a long time since the nigia film industry has produced such quality performance. I hope we will see more of Stella and the rest of top performer on screen in the future. I was about to give up on nigia films, their story-lines are becoming boring and unnecessarily long. Especially now that they have started this part 3 and part 4 thing. When you really look at things closely, nigia films are more costly than amer films, that is, when you add the cost of all 3-4 parts. In fact, it's really one movie that has been broken into 3-4 parts totalling appx. 1-1 1/2 hours.
Now, if they would just bring Omotola, Geniev, Ike and a few other back, we can all start to really enjoy again.

Excellently written and acted, even more touching and heart wrenching due to it being a true movie. All of the scenes during the widow rites is still alive and prevalent in many IBO culture. May God bear every widow witness and be their Ambasador.

this was by far one of the best movies that i have watched. It was very emotional and very sad and to imagine that things like this happen everyday in Nigeria. Where are the female lawyers in Nigeria. It is time for a change of all this babaric burial rites. I have never heard where any such laws are enacted when it is the wife that dies. Evil thrives when good people keep quiet.
