“incongrous storyline. The celestial or aladura (white garment) church is depicted as the true faith against the false prophets of a materialistic pentecostal church who apparently are literally "demons in disguise". Since both groups have their share of fraudsters and false doctrines, a critique of both "prosperity" pastors and white robed prophets would have been great and in tune with reality rather than this irritating propaganda.”

“great entertainment, strong message and good acting - even from Desmond Elliott who was well suited to his role. Intense drama- from spousal abuse to hotel hideouts- the ending is a breath of fresh air- none of the usual tales of juju or reconciliation. Kudos to Tchidi Chikere and the cast. Time indeed to get a life.”

“Impressive- ending keeps one off balance: delighted no mystical powers were involved. while the fickle power serving role of police is clear, but the sense of power of an abused wife to demand and receive freedom from the courts and get compensation is a breath of fresh air- and without jumping into the arms of another man!! some applause for Tchidi Chikere”

“entertainment value is ok but the message drives me crazier than the evil mom of the film. iIt is time that films portray a struggle for social justice!where a woman cannot be deprived of her kids for years on the whim of idiotic parents in law! and where such ignorant and stupid in-law behavior is not justified by saying "everyone would do the same?". Perhaps someday screens will show a fight for justice outside of juju charms gone wrong.”

“unusual Nollywood fare. Powerful stuff indeed- Kudos to the director for troubling portrayal of a deeply dysfunctional family and absolutely phenomenal acting by all the actors.”

“A disconcerting film- quite unusual Nollywood fare. Powerful stuff indeed- Kudos to the director for venturing into the new zone of cinema, but I understand why it would not be popular with Nollywood audiences- troubling portrayal of a deeply dysfunctional family with the mysterious tragic happenings that remind us both of Hollywood’s bent for the spine chiller. The films strongest point is the absolutely phenomenal acting by all the actors: Mercy Johnson, Eucharia, the young man playing the son and so on. Whew. Some excellent shots too- check out the headshot in part 2 of the son and his teen friend dancing and freezing with faces up close. The film does try too hard and has some flaws in a subplot but yes- unlike most Nollywood films, this one cannot be easily forgotten. I’m glad I watched it.”

“I tend to be critical of this category of cinema, but this one had interesting storylines wrapping its message of forgiveness and redemptive love, eg the village women and their social uprising for equity etc - somehow all came together in a film with both serious and hilarious moments as when the women chased a husband all the way to the kings courtyard! or the mad escape from a "ghost".”
