Good movie. But many parents in Nigeria do not allow their children to speak the native language, expecially the half educated ones, they think that it is sophistication not to speak the native language. Also I do not believe that juju is part of our culture, it is evil to kill a child just because of some stupid ritual. I live in the USA and my children speak better Yoruba than my brother's children that live in Lagos.

Good movie.
This is a lesson for all parents that no matter what lets teach our children the culture, tradition and the language of our country. Been in abroad doesn't mean we have to neglect all this.Cheating husband or not the Mother ruined her daughter's marriage/life. Train! Train!! Train!!!

Very Nice Movie. I'll recomend it. Only thing is that the wife had a british accent and at the end of the movie, they made us beleive she is from the US. How exactly is that posiible? Continuity is the Key. Aside from that, Good One!!!!!!

I don't really understand the five star ratings for this movie. The writer took his opinion, and literarily hit us over the head with it - no subtlety whatsoever. While the woman in question may be narrow minded for not teaching her daughter to speak Yoruba, how is it that the writer will have us believe that this is the sole cause of the girl's problems? What of the meddling mother-in-law? Or the cheating husband? They have no blame in the matter? This is how Nigerian movies try to place the blame for all the problems in the world on the woman. The husband has an affair? Then the wife must be denying him of sex, or maybe she can't cook, or she's disrespectful - or in this case, she can't speak Yoruba.

Good movie and so well acted. BUT do some research on ACCENTS. We hear a BRITISH accent on the female actress (who did a wonderful job).

Well acting and great performance. But all said, how many of we living abroad can boadly say that, he or she actually speak his or native language to their children. This should be an awareness, not because of rituals at home, but at least the children will know their root.

Pls, teach and allow your children to speak your native language, no harm in it. Your children will pray for you and be thankful tommorrow or else otherwise.

God help us all, amen.

Happy viewing.

Nothing else can be said. This deserve an award .... Best Picture ....Best Actress/Actor ..... Best sound and everything out there. The only clause though is the fact that Sharon's accent is of British origin not american while they made us believe that she's an american. That I can deal with.

wonderful movie, lesson to learn especially nigerians in diaspora,i think nigerians have complex most especially the yorubas. The igbos and the hausas are proud of their culture and language, whereever they go they carry their culture and language with them.Though it is not easy aepecially from the environment but with effort we can get there. The most annoying thing is yoruba children living in nija dont even understand the culture and the language. All in the name of wanting the children to be aso or ajebota.Well a world is enough for the wise, everybody will know where we are somehow guity.Whateva whateva the fact remains that we are yorubas and 9ja and the color can not change.Fantastic movie and kudos to sharon wheda ascent or not she interpreted the role very well

Kudos to you...Ronke Ojo (Oshodi-Oke). This is a diferent storyline which makes the story unique. Let your children learn your native language no matter where you live in the world.
Sharon's mother doesn't speak like American though....It's more like British to me.

Kudos: A movie with a strong message to Africans raising kids overseas. Even if one does not fully agree with the message, the acting is excellent, hilarious in some scenes and avoids usual stereotypes. Synopsis: a loving man takes his "raised in the US" bride and child home with unexpected consequences.

I like ingenuity and originality and this is what Ronke did in this movie. She wrote another movie recently about tribal tolerance in Nigeria. Ronke continue the good work and more grease to your elbow.
