Ekaete, a young village girl leaves her hometown to the city of Lagos in search of greener pastures. But she quickly discovers that all that glitters is definitely not gold, as she experiences serious maltreatment from her madam eventually leading her back to her hometown in Akwa-Ibom state, where she discovers she had no need to ever leave in the first place.

Kill them with kindness! Your basic rags to riches, good vs evil storyline but the movie was well acted. It could have had a bit more flavour...they need to make movies more interesting with some kind of twist. It was too predictable.

This movie was just excellent! This entire movie is one big life lesson. It teaches us that even if we come from a poor background or if we did not have a good upbringing, we can STILL rise to the top and be sucessful in life. We also learn that life is what YOU make it. It is also shows us that we can use our past to become better people in the future. Never treat people unfairly, you never know if you will need them later in life.

This movie was incredible. Life is a bitch. Just goes to show that being nice to people who work for u is always a good thing bcos you never know where they may end up 2morrow. Da chik is a prett decent actress and she had a very good heart in the movie.

My wife and i just saw this movie, and i noticed that my daugher already wrote a review, to tell you the thruth i was and still moved by this particular movie, my lovely wife hails from Akwa Ibom, while i'm from Lagos, she had similar experience with Ekaete, we live in the USA, despite her life experiences, the story is so moving, almost cried watching this movie, this is great, will recommend to our friends, six stars warranted . Thanks Mr Isong for a wonderful, well written, well directed movie. Segun

Very touching and heartwarming. It is a lesson to those of us here in the USA, that we should not forget our origin. We need to help those back home with our blessings. Need to see this actress face more often in the movies.

This is an incredible journey of life recapitulating the fact that "east or west, home is the best." Ekaete is a portrayal of humility and hard work even at the point of uncertainty and sujugation. Persistence, vision and support from the "blessed among us" can help us to rise above board. A lesson to digest.

Nice Movie. Another one of those based on the premise that "no state is permanent." The actress who played Ekaete has a great deal of potential, hope to see her in much more.

Great movie!!! Has a great storyline with good moral lessons. It goes to show that when given an opportunity, anyone can succeed regardless of where they are from. It also shows that a person does not have sacrifice his or her moral values to become successful. It's a really good movie and worth watching.
