Ugomma is in love with Dinta but is forbidden by tradition to marry before the elder sister Olamma unless as a second wife. However, Ugomma does not want to share her love with anybody. Dinta persists in taking Ugomma in marriage against the sacred tradition and gets Olamma in disguise for Ugomma. A rift develops and Olamma reaps insanity for her desire for extra marital affairs. Ugomma on the other hand gets an illegitimate pregnancy for Dinta. The consequence is inter-village war between Ubahadurueze and Umueze. Love finally finds a way in the sacred tradition.
