After the recent death of his father, 17-year old Mike arrived from England to New York City to live with his mother Carmela, and walks right into a dysfunctional family fiasco.

Carmela's boyfriend of 15 years, Sam, refuses to marry her, even though they have a daughter together named Keisha. Preoccupied with pursuing Sam for marriage, Carmela neglects her children, and each resorts to hanging out with unsavory characters for attention.

Will Mike find the peace he seeks in his mother's home, or will he return to England to pursue his life-long dream of playing soccer for Manchester United? For that matter, will Carmela realize that her commitment to her children far exceeds the commitment she seeks from Sam?
